If you are 70 1/2 or older, you can donate directly from your IRA as a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD).

There are several benefits to you:

  1. The amount you transfer directly from your IRA to a QCD, such as The Keshi Foundation, counts toward your required minimum distribution (RMD).

  2. The amount you transfer is not taxed as income, as a regular RMD would be.

  3. Because it is not taxed as income, the QCD amount is not deductible from your income as a charitable contribution. However, there may be a tax benefit from reducing your total income.

Your plan administrator or tax consultant can help you with this. Detailed information here.

The Keshi Foundation is an appropriate Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) for your non-taxable gift.

You can also make contributions of appreciated stocks if you like. A stock donation has the same benefits as donations from an IRA, as explained above. The Keshi Foundation is qualified to accept this type of donation. Please reach out to us, and we will provide your plan administrator with the necessary data to help you make your contribution.

The Keshi Foundation receives Zuni fetishes, jewelry, and pottery donated by collectors and artists. Some are for sale here on the Purchase page, and all proceeds from selling the items support the Foundation. Here’s how to send your work and a simple form to itemize the artwork.

If you plan to donate Zuni artwork, you should know that the artwork may also be sold on the Zuni Artists Resource Team website in Gallup, NM.  Proceeds of the sales will support TKF programs.

Museum quality work will be held for inclusion in a collection that will form the basis for a Museum of Zuni Art

If you have museum-quality work to donate, please contact us directly before sending it. Donations are fully tax-deductible within IRS guidelines (note that the IRS will require an appraisal for any single piece that you claim has a value of $5000 or more. Please consult your accountant.

Thank you, Elakwa in Zuni
