The Laate Family is a large and renowned family of fetish carvers. Pernell and his brother Maxx began carving when the fetish market took off in the l980’s. Pernell died in 2008. He left behind many intricate and soulful fetishes, many made of antler. The Harpy Eagle has feathers on the top and back of its head and was believed to be a wind spirit that had connections with The Ancestors. Found in Central and South America, it is the largest and most powerful raptor of the Rain Forests. Pernell used this antler with so much consideration, leaving the outer skin of the antler for the wings and perch, while exposing the creamy white interior for the head, neck, and talons. The carving on the wings is lovely. This tiny eagle is mighty! Signature carved on the bottom in the antler. Measures 1 5/8 inches tall and 5/8 inches wide at the base. $150. No Tax.
